This is an exciting night. The Eve before official Opening Day of the Snowmobile Trails. December 1st is official opening day for the trails here in Northern Michigan. Even better there is snow in the forecast. The entire state of Michigan is blanketed with a winter storm warning. Now if we can get all the snow they're predicting and then some! ... we will be winters heaven. Our favorite time of the year.

Our trail system, The Gaylord Ares Snowmobile Trails Council covers 101 miles. The council has been out cleaning the trails and excavating in preparation. New snowmobile signs are in place. This year Residential Excavating of Frederic has been contracted to operate the grooming equipment. Hope they're as excited about the upcoming season as we all are.

Rays Retreat Country Inn is located directly on one of the main feeder trails (Trail 7) of this system. You can enjoy many memorable rides from this location in all directions. Grayling area has some great trails to the south of us, to the west are the East Jordan Trails and north you will find good trails all the way up to the bridge.

We just brought out all our snowmobile coats, boots, and clothing tonight to freshen up and ready for that first ride. We can't wait!
