Spaghetti Supper

How much spaghetti does it take to feed a village? ... alot! More than 13 pounds. We actually ran short of spaghetti this time at our Fundraising Spaghetti Supper held at the Otsego Lake Township Firehall. This is a picture of Gabe, our spaghetti chef in our kitchen with pans and pans of spaghetti that he'd cooked up. It took an afternoon of preparing spaghetti, and meat sauce to feed everyone. Due to licensing laws and such, it has to be prepared in our kitchen and then taken down to the firehall where its heated up.
Despite the weather causing several cancellations here at Rays's its still been a busy weekend. We have 8 rooms of guests, all but one are snowmobilers. Everyone is just so anxious to get out and try their sleds out this season. At least the ground is frozen, with snow around. The Bob and Bob team rode to Lovells (where they report they ran completely out of snow). Trails are in poor condition. We need SNOW.
This morning started with our serving breakfast to our guests: pancakes and sausage. In between flipping pancakes I was mixing up cookie dough. Peanut butter, oatmeal raisin and what was going to be chocolate chip. They turned into chocolate cookies when the warmth in the kitchen melted the chips as they were sitting on the counter. By 11 I had baked 12 dozen cookies (to be taken down to the firehall for desert). A brief sit down with a glass of ice water and then it was time to start cleaning rooms, changing towels out and then laundry detail. Laundry detail itself is ongoing... I am pleased to report it has all been washed, dryed... and a mountain of it is on the table to be folded.
At this point it was 2 p.m. I sat down with feet up to read the paper, have a sandwich and pepsi and then shut my eyes until 3:30 pm. Time to walk and feed Sparky. Get my clothes changed and down to the firehall.
I was down to the firehall until 6, when Mike and I changed spots. He went down to the hall while I came back to watch the motel. ... and back out into the kitchen to bake the biscuits for tomorrow breakfast. Biscuits and Gravy.
Mike returned after helping with clean up and reports the supper was a great success. Our Waters Festival Committee has funds in its account. We are planning the First Ever Waters Festival - the Sunday of Labor Day weekend. It will be a fun day for our community that will end with fireworks. Sounds good, huh?
So now, I am going to climb into bed and dream of the fireworks. (of course with snowflakes falling too!)
